Starting about 1 month before your microneedling treatment, avoid sun exposure and always use sunscreen when outdoors. Beginning 1-2 weeks before your treatment, refrain from waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and skincare products with acids. About 5 days before treatment, stop using products with retinoids. Additionally, avoid facial masks, hair dyes, rough sponges, and any harsh or drying topicals.
Starting 3 days before your treatment, discontinue using active skincare products. For men, it is recommended to shave the night before or the morning of the treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, please notify us, as additional pre-treatment may be needed. Clients who have recently undergone cosmetic procedures such as laser treatments, cosmetic fillers, or surgeries should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before proceeding with microneedling. Please discuss with us to determine the best timing for your treatment.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, stimulates your skin’s natural turnover cycle, promoting healing and new skin cell production. Depending on your specific skin concerns, it typically takes 4 to 6 weeks or more to see the full results of the treatment. This is the time it takes for your body to produce new, skin-plumping collagen and replace damaged skin cells with healthier, rejuvenated ones. The longevity of these results can vary depending on individual skincare habits and maintenance treatments. A consistent skincare routine and sun protection can help prolong the benefits of microneedling.
The procedure itself usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. However, the entire appointment may take up to 2 hours due to the application of topical numbing cream for client comfort. If desired, you may apply the numbing cream before arriving at the clinic for convenience.
At The Beverly Hills MedSpa, we customize each microneedling treatment to your skin type and goals. Our expert team guides proper aftercare to help you maximize results. While you’ll see early improvements, the most noticeable changes occur after completing your treatment series and following our recommended home care. Individual results may vary based on age, skin condition, and lifestyle, but our skilled providers are committed to helping you achieve your best skin.
Microneedling is a popular treatment at The Beverly Hills MedSpa for stimulating collagen and rejuvenating the skin. While it offers impressive results, our expert medical team ensures your safety by performing a thorough assessment before any treatment. Although microneedling is safe and effective for many, it may not be suitable for everyone, depending on individual skin conditions and medical history. People with the following conditions should avoid microneedling:
• Active Skin Infections – Those with active acne, cold sores, or other skin infections should not undergo microneedling, as it can worsen the condition.
• Open Wounds or Burns – Microneedling should not be performed on areas with open wounds, cuts, or burns, as it could cause further irritation or infection.
• Severe Eczema or Psoriasis – Individuals with severe eczema or psoriasis, especially in the treatment area, may experience irritation or flare-ups.
• Keloid Scarring – Individuals prone to keloid scarring, where excessive scarring extends beyond the wound site, may not be suitable candidates for microneedling.
• Pregnancy or Breastfeeding – While generally safe, it’s recommended to avoid microneedling during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to limited research on its safety.
• Blood Clotting Disorders – Those with blood clotting disorders or those on blood-thinning medications should avoid microneedling due to the risk of excessive bleeding or bruising.
At The Beverly Hills MedSpa, every microneedling session begins with a personalized consultation to review your health history, evaluate your skin, and discuss your goals. This ensures that you receive the safest, most effective treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. We’re here to answer your questions and help you achieve beautiful, healthy skin—safely.
At The Beverly Hills MedSpa, microneedling is one of our most popular treatments for rejuvenating your skin and promoting a youthful, radiant complexion. Peeling is a normal part of the microneedling process. After the treatment, you may experience mild flaking or peeling as your skin regenerates and sheds dead cells. This typically occurs within 2 to 3 days after the procedure and is a sign that the skin is healing. The peeling is usually mild and temporary, lasting around 3 to 5 days, depending on your skin type and the depth of the microneedling treatment.
Starting 3 days before the peel, it’s important to discontinue skin care products that contain active ingredients. These ingredients can irritate the skin during the healing process. It’s also important not to pick or scratch the peeling skin, as this can cause irritation or scarring. To support the healing process, follow your practitioner’s aftercare instructions, including using gentle moisturizers and avoiding harsh exfoliants or sun exposure. Once the peeling subsides, your skin will look smoother, brighter, and more rejuvenated.
Our team is here to support your healing journey and ensure you achieve the best possible results from your microneedling experience. For more information, contact us or schedule an appointment.
