Master-Injector Melanie Speed and the entire Team at Flawless are continually seeking out new, safe, and effective treatments to address aesthetic concerns, like cellulite. Flawless Medspa is excited to announce that we are one of the first practices in Las Vegas to offer QWO – the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for the reduction of moderate to severe cellulite.

Cellulite isn’t your fault – it’s just a natural part of women’s biology

The majority of women will have cellulite in their lifetime– in fact, about 9 out of 10. That means that while your intense workouts and healthy eating habits are beneficial for your fitness and overall wellbeing it doesn’t do much to reduce cellulite.

If you really want to diminish cellulite, you need to understand what’s behind it. Cellulite isn’t fat, it isn’t caused by what you eat, and it doesn’t mean that you aren’t exercising enough. There are 3 things that together contribute to those signature dimples. 1. The skin thins as we age and lose collagen. 2. Fat cells enlarge and push against the skin. 3. The fibrous bands under the skin thicken and cause tension, with the fat cells bulging through, creating cellulite.

Until very recently, only surgical and invasive options could treat the structural cause of cellulite under the skin. Now with the release of QWO, patients together with our aesthetic specialists at Flawless can choose the first and only FDA-approved injectable that treats cellulite in the butts of adult women. And, unlike other injectables on the market, studies show QWO lasting anywhere from 1-5 years. While long-term studies of QWO are still ongoing, all indications are that QWO can last for years with no reduction in effects once all three treatments are completed.

How does QWO work to Treat Cellulite?

QWO utilizes two types of collagen-degrading enzymes. These specialized enzymes in QWO – called collagenases – are believed to target the structural causes of cellulite; working in 3 ways: by releasing fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen for a smoother appearance.

QWO is injected by your aesthetic specialist directly into targeted dimples in the buttocks utilizing a very small needle.

How long do QWO Injection Treatments take?

At your appointment, after checking-in, and capturing your before images each office visit, our highly-trained Flawless provider will discuss treatment and expectations. After identifying the treatment areas and carefully marking them, we’ll use a very small needle to inject QWO. The injections itself takes as little as 10 minutes and are relatively painless, requiring no anesthesia, aftercare, or recovery time.

How many QWO Treatments will I receive?

QWO injections will be given 21 days apart for 3 visits, so 3 treatments, each spaced 3 weeks apart. Please keep in mind the moderate to severe bruising will be apparent following each treatment and lasting several days to weeks. Some patients start to notice less dimpling after a single treatment with QWO, though the majority of patients will start to see an improvement approximately three weeks after their 3rd treatment.

What are the side effects?

As with every medical treatment, there are some side effects associated with QWO injections. Most patients experienced a high level of bruising after treatment; though, in clinical studies, the degree of bruising lessened with each subsequent treatment. The bruising results not from the needle pokes themselves but from the process of collagen remodeling. There will be soreness, similar to what you experience after a good workout. According to the manufacturer, the most common side effects of QWO include: site bruising, areas of hardness, itching, redness, discoloration, swelling and warmth in the treatment area — all temporary effects. Because moderate to severe bruising is expected with QWO, patients are advised to adjust their plans accordingly around treatment times. We also highly recommend avoiding direct sun exposure until bruising resolves. In clinical trials, women required no post-treatment downtime.

*Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported and require emergency evaluation.

How was QWO’s safety tested?

QWO’s effectiveness and safety were proven in “the largest clinical trial in the history of cellulite investigation,” having been studied in more patients than any other FDA-approved injectable cellulite treatment, with over 1,800 women participating. QWO it’s medically classified as a drug- and FDA drug trials are famously rigorous. In addition, QWO can safely treat all skin tones; In fact, 30% of participants in the double-blind, controlled trials had Fitzpatrick skin types 4–6, ranging from light brown to very dark brown. QWO is an exciting new treatment suitable for most womanly to finally help address stubborn cellulite.
